Virtualization

Incus

Coming soon

Sell system containers and virtual machines side by side, both ordered, run and removed from one panel.

Incus is the Linux Containers project's successor to LXD: one daemon and one REST API that runs system containers and full virtual machines on the same host. That single API is what a Provibr integration would speak to, from an agent inside your own network.

What is planned

  • Order of work: after the hypervisors, because a container host is a different kind of target
  • An Incus daemon the agent can reach, with a client certificate you issue yourself
  • No date committed, and it is not part of what you buy today

Where this stands

Coming soon. Designed, not implemented. If you already run Incus or LXD in production, tell us what you drive it with. That shapes what gets built.

What it does

Nothing works today. It is on this page because the shape fits: an Incus instance is a managed resource like any other, and the panel already knows how to sell, meter and audit those.

  • Two kinds of workload, one lifecycle

Create, start, stop, restart and remove, with the same commands and the same audit trail whether the customer ordered a container or a full virtual machine.

  • One API, no second connector

Incus exposes a single REST API secured with client certificates. The agent already sits inside your network and keeps credentials in its own vault, so nothing extra has to be installed on the host.

  • Counted as one resource

Container or full machine, it is one instance under management and one line in your capacity, with the same page, the same history and the same usage graph as the rest.
