Power distribution units
On the roadmapRead the draw per outlet, and cut power to a machine that stopped answering.
A dedicated server that will not come back from a reboot is a power problem before it is anything else. The plan is to put the outlet on the machine's own page, so the last resort is a click instead of a phone call to the data centre.
What is planned
- Order of work: alongside dedicated servers, and not before them
- An agent host that can reach the management interface of the unit
- No date committed, and it is not part of what you buy today
Where this stands
Roadmap. Designed as part of the dedicated server work; nothing is built.
Other integrations
What it does
Nothing is built. It is on this page because a PDU is the piece that finishes the dedicated server story, and you should be able to see what is planned before you count on it.
Consumption per outlet
Read current and consumption per outlet, so what a customer's machine draws is a measurement on its page rather than an estimate from its specification.
Switch a single port
Power off, power on and cycle one outlet from the machine it belongs to, with the same command trail and the same audit row that every other action gets.
Reached through the agent
A PDU belongs on the management network and should stay there. The agent already sits on that network, so the device never has to face the internet to be usable.
