PowerDNS
Coming soonReverse DNS for the addresses you hand out, from the panel that hands them out.
Every address Provibr assigns to a machine already lives in its address management. The plan is to let that same assignment write the reverse record, so a customer's server answers with a name instead of with nothing.
What is planned
- Order of work: alongside the address management that already exists
- A PowerDNS installation the agent can reach, with its API enabled
- No date committed, and it is not part of what you buy today
Where this stands
Coming soon. Designed as an extension of the address management already in the product, and not started.
Other integrations
What it does
Nothing is built. It is on this page because reverse DNS is the piece that finishes the address story, and because you should be able to see what is planned before you count on it.
A PTR with the address
When an address is allocated to a machine, the reverse record would follow from that same action and disappear again when the machine does. No second system to remember, and no record left behind.
Your zones stay yours
PowerDNS keeps its own zones, its own backend and its own operators. Provibr would write the records for the addresses it manages itself and leave everything else alone.
Reached through the agent
The API of a nameserver belongs on your management network and should stay there. The agent already sits on that network, so PowerDNS never has to face the internet to be useful.
