InterServer

InterServer is the second provider Provibr manages, after Hetzner Cloud. You rent a VPS from InterServer; Provibr imports it and drives it from the same panel as the rest of your fleet. Everything here is measured against their real API.

Order a VPS at InterServer

New to InterServer? The first month is $0.01 through our link, or enter code provibr at checkout. After that, cloud VPS starts at $3/month per slice.

This is an affiliate link: if you open an InterServer account through it, InterServer pays us a commission at no extra cost to you. What you pay Provibr to manage the machine is the same either way.

One key, and it opens everything

The whole credential is a single API key, created under Account Security at my.interserver.net. There is no host to type and no fingerprint to read; the endpoint is fixed and carries a publicly trusted certificate.

InterServer issues one key per account, with no scopes, no expiry and no IP restriction. The same key that manages your servers also opens the account password and the payment methods, so whoever holds it holds the whole account. If you want to limit what Provibr can reach, use a separate InterServer account.

Three locations, all in the United States

InterServer runs in New Jersey, Los Angeles and Dallas. All three carry every platform, and a machine keeps the location it was ordered in.

There is no European location. If latency to Europe or an EU place of establishment matters to you, that is worth weighing before you move a workload here.

Machines arrive by import

Provibr ignores every VPS it has not been told about, so nothing appears on its own. Open the integration, import the machines you want to manage, and they join your server list.

That is deliberate: an account usually holds machines that have nothing to do with Provibr, and adopting them silently would be the wrong default.

What you can do with a machine

Once a machine is imported, Provibr reads its status and address and drives its power:

  • Start and stop are hard power actions: InterServer has no graceful ACPI shutdown for a VPS.
  • A stop takes about half a minute to show; a start can take up to a minute and a half. Provibr waits for the machine to reach the requested state.
  • Cancelling ends the service. See below, because it does not work the way delete does everywhere else.
Cancelling a machine at InterServer is not a deletion. It schedules the service to end at the close of the current billing term, and the machine keeps running, and billing, until then. Provibr records that date beside a still-running machine instead of removing it.

Suspending does not exist, and switching off does not save money

InterServer has no suspend, and a stopped VPS is billed exactly as a running one until the service is cancelled. Powering a machine off therefore costs the same and gains nothing.

When an account goes over its licence limit, Provibr says so and refuses to start more machines, but it will not pause an InterServer VPS on your behalf: pausing it would keep costing you money without freeing anything.

What is not there yet

Ordering new machines, paying an invoice from the prepay balance, the console, metrics, firewalls and reinstalling are all off for now. Ordering and paying are built and will be switched on in a later release; the console and metrics are off for measured reasons, and reinstalling needs the account password, which Provibr will not store.
