Dedicated servers are the reason the agent lives inside your network rather than in ours. Netbooting a machine and reaching its management controller are things you cannot sensibly do from outside a data centre.
What is planned

What it does
This is coming. The protocol between platform and agent already reserves room for it, but no part of it is implemented.
The agent becomes your PXE server
Instead of running a separate provisioning host, the agent serves the boot environment on the network it already sits on, and the panel decides what a machine boots into.
Power and console through IPMI
Power on, power off, reset and console access by proxying IPMI or Redfish through the agent, so the management network never has to face the internet.
Automated operating system installs
Unattended installs onto bare metal, with the same command, progress and audit trail that a virtual machine gets today.
