Webmin

Available now

Turn a Webmin server you already run into hosting you can sell, through the Virtualmin module.

Provibr talks to Webmin from an agent inside your network, over the remote API of the Virtualmin module.

  • Usage metrics
  • Suspend and resume

What you need

  • A Webmin server the agent host can reach over https, on port 10000 by default
  • The Virtualmin module installed, and a Webmin user allowed to use it
  • The fingerprint of the certificate Webmin presents (required, because it is normally self-signed)

What it does

A hosting account is a managed resource like any other: a page, a history, a usage graph and a place in your capacity.

  • Webmin is the panel, Virtualmin is the part that hosts

Virtualmin is the module that adds domains, plans and quotas, and that is what Provibr drives. Without it there is nothing to connect, and Provibr says so up front.

  • The account lifecycle

Create an account with a domain, a contact address and one of your own plans. Suspend it, move it to another plan, or remove it.

  • Counted and priced like everything else

Hosting accounts are their own resource type with their own price, and a suspended account does not count towards your limit.

Where this stands

Live. Account provisioning and the usage graphs work; managing the Webmin server itself does not exist yet.

Start with one host and one agent

Create an account, install the agent with a single command and connect your first Proxmox host. The trial runs for 14 days and asks for no payment details.
